Therapeutic Yoga

These are specialist yoga classes or workshops drawing on the science and wisdom of the yoga framework, and research in psychology, science and neurophysiology. It includes practices to promote integration, nervous system regulation, and bring calm and soothing, balance to the mind-body-spirt. These classes are offered either as a workshop or a course. You can also request private group or 1:1 sessions that will be tailored specifically to your needs. Classes can include mindful yoga and movement, transformational yoga practices, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness and compassion-focused approaches to cultivate psychological wellbeing. Each class is thoughtfully and compassionately guided by Dr Chantell Douglas, an experienced Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, Trauma Informed Practitioner, and specially trained Yoga Therapist.

Open to all levels and beginners.

Mindful Yoga

Dr Chantell Douglas’ other specialist yoga offering, that can be booked as a private group, 1:1 or events, and is taught either in person or online via Zoom is Mindful Yoga. In addition to advanced training in mindfulness and compassion-based approaches as a psychologist, Chantell has also completed specialist Mindful Hatha Yoga and Transformational Yoga Teacher training across Europe and in India, and has extensive experience teaching adults of all ages, experiences and backgrounds. Mindful yoga encourages us to flow in a moving meditation, aligning breath to promote rhythm, regulation and mindful awareness, as well as opportunities for stillness, inviting the breath to soothe and supports us. Classes includes dynamic, mindful and restorative postures, breath work, meditation and soothing tools for the nervous system. They end with guided rest. Style is light, joyful and soothing. Accessible to beginners and all levels.

Private Sessions

Private sessions (whether an individual, group of friends or a workplace/specialist event) can be tailored to your specific needs. Chantell works collaboratively to understand your hopes/vision for sessions. Chantell has extensive experience, having worked with universities, NHS, corporate settings. Previous themes include:

  • Talks on the science of mindfulness and a mindful yoga practice

  • Talks on the science of compassion and a compassionate yoga flow practice

  • Mindful yoga flow for rest, relaxation and restoration

  • Talk on wellbeing in the workplace and a guided yoga practice to promote self-care

This can be a wonderful space to develop your own personalised yoga practice and holistic tools for soothing, calm and balance. As well as an initial consultation, you will get a tailored plan, resources, and summary of sessions to continue cultivate practices outside of sessions.

Where: Sessions are mostly online, with limited in person sessions available (there may be additional costs for travel / studio hire in person).

Therapeutic Yoga for Adolescents

I also offer private classes or specialist therapeutic yoga for adolescents - please enquire directly or check for any upcoming adolescent workshops. Classes are offered mostly online, with some limited in person spaces available in East London.
