A holistic approach to psychological wellbeing

We offer psychological therapy and holistic wellbeing practices grounded in psychology, science and research.

We bring an accessible, compassionate and community focus to our work, with humans at the heart- for adults, parents, children & families.

Welcome!

Founded by Dr Chantell Douglas - Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Teacher & Therapist, Mindfulness Practitioner.

Chantell has worked in mental health for 15 years in London, in the NHS and across the lifespan. She found a deep connection to mindfulness and compassion, and the intersection with psychology, organisations and social justice. She developed growing interest in compassion-focused, holistic and community approaches to mental health, the ways we can honour and connect to wisdom, and cultivate individual, family and community wellbeing, in and outside the therapy room.

Ways we can work together

Mindful Yoga Psychology is a holistic practice that specialises in integrating the science of psychology, yoga, mindfulness based and other holistic approaches, with their ancient wisdom to promote psychological wellbeing - through therapy, therapeutic yoga, specialist workshops, free resources, collaborative projects and more. Psychological Therapy For Parents, Children & Families +

Drawing on 10+ years training and working as a clinical psychologist across the lifespan, and specialising in child/family mental health and paediatric NHS services, I support parents at any stage of the parenting journey- from the perinatal stages (for parents-to-be) right through to when their children become adults and the understandable emotions and experiences this may bring up, including adjustment to parenthood, anxiety, anger, low mood, worries and fears, loss and grief. I also support parents, children and families around a range of concerns they may have for their child (such as thier child's anxiety feelings, behaviour, developmental concerns and more). I provide a warm and friendly space to explore your concerns and work with you to develop a specifically tailored suport package for you and your family's needs.

Please note this support is not suitable if you have an urgent or crisis mental health or wellbeing concern about you, or a child or young person - in this case please contact the GP or other known health or care professional.

Psychological Therapy For Adults +

It's udnerstandable that challenges, stressors and difficulties can show up during adulthood. Having more understanding about what contributes to the tricky thoughts / beliefs / behaviours / contexts that impact, and working with a trained professional to develop a tailored map and plan, unique to you, and build more coping resources can be so powerful. I have specialist training and experience in working with adults in the NHS and in independent practice. I work with adults around a range of understandable common mental health concerns, life stresses and transitions including work, relationship, life transiitions and transitions to becoming parents. I draw on a range of science-based psychological and holistic approaches to explore concerns, connect to unique strengths and coping skills, and move towards your preferred future and what truly matters to you.

Please note this is not suitable if you have an urgent or crisis mental health concern for yourself or another adult, or child or young person. In that case, please contact the GP or other known health professional.

Parent / Family Consultations +

These time limited sessions (1-3) provide a supportive space to talk about a specific concern or issue. Consultation sessions are brief, as the focus is on starting to make sense of experiences, rather than exploring difficulties in depth or ongoing therapy. My approach to consultation is warm and friendly, inviting everybody to feel listened to and understood - whether it is as a parent, couple or family. With 10+ years training and working as a clinical psychologist across the lifespan, and specialist training in parent, child, family and body-based therapy approaches, I draw on a range of tools to help us develop a formulation (or map) of experiences linked to your main concern, to build a shared understanding of struggles and strengths, and any support recommendations.

Yoga Therapy for Children, Adolescents and Families +

Yoga therapy is an inclusive, integrative and transformative approach for working with parents, children, young people and families - it can strengthen their unique voice, confidence, self-awareness, connection to their essence and whole selves, to nature, their relationships to others and their sense of what truly matters for the lives and preferred futures. Yoga therapy is grounded in ancient yoga wisdom, philosophy and ethics, and invites us to integrate psychological therapy models within the story and language of the body. It encourages qualities such as curiosity, awareness, non-judgement, interoception and compassion- building blocks for psychological wellbeing.

Yoga therapy sessions are offered directly with children and young people, and liaison with parents / child’s support network alongside. I can also see whole families together, or work directly with parents to nurture ways to integrate these ideas into their own or their child’s life.

Please note this is not suitable if you have an urgent or crisis mental health concern for yourself or another adult, or child or young person. In that case, please contact the GP or other known health professional.

Therapeutic Yoga for Adults +

Therapeutic yoga is an embodied and holistic practice grounded in ancient wisdom, recent developments in research and science, and therapeutic practices to promote transformation through a deeper connection and understanding of ourselves. It’s more than a physical practice - research shows that regular yoga can increase mindful awareness, compassion, relieve stress, tension, promote nervous system and emotional regulation, and inspire actions to support our psychological and physical wellbeing. I offer mindful yoga and therapeutic yoga for adults and adolescents. I have extensive experience as a clinical psychologist, yoga teacher, with specialist training in yoga therapy approaches, and experiecne of teaching on several yoga teacher trainings.

I offer consultation to mental health professionals, schools, and organisations. This could be a one-off consultation around a particular question or theme you’d like to explore, or ongoing support for ideas, policies or service development projects to promote the wellbeing of children, young people and families, drawing on the research and evidence-base, and with a psychological, trauma-informed, whole child /school approach in mind. I can also provide packages of talks, yoga and holistic workshops and wellbeing support for staff.

I offer consultation & mentorship for trainee or qualified yoga teachers. This can be particularly helpful for those wanting to explore the research and evidence-base around mental heath, and promote psychological, mindfulness-based and trauma-informed approaches in their practice and teaching.
