RADICAL REST CIRCLE (October): An online yoga & psychology workshop radical rest

RADICAL REST CIRCLE:

A monthly drop-in online yoga & psychology workshop for radical rest

Friday 8th September 8-9.15PM , £5-£18.50 (pay what you can)

If you’re a keyworker- working in health, social care, education, charity sector, a frontline service or care setting this is FOR YOU.

If you’re working in overstretched and under-resourced systems, which can trick you into believing you need to work harder, and leave you feeling exhausted and burnt out, this vital space for collective community care and rest is FOR YOU.

Radical Rest Circles start with a compassionate practice to arrive in the space. We share somatic yoga techniques, mindful movement and breath practices to calm the nervous system. We offer therapeutic reflections to tap into our collective wisdom to sustain and nourish, and ways to collectively resist the tricks and pains of burn out.

We finish with a deeply restorative practice and guided rest.

WITH: Dr Chantell Douglas and Dr Jo Murray (Clinical Psychologists, Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists)

WHEN: Sunday 12th November- 8-9.15PM

WHERE: Online via Zoom

PRICE: £5-£18.50 (Sliding scale - please consider paying at the highest rate you are able to)*

In these challenging times, we believe rest is vital for all humans, particularly if you are at the frontline of over-stretched and under-resourced systems. We want to make our work as accessible as possible. That’s why we have created a sliding scale.

Dr Chantell Douglas- Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist

“For 10+ years, I have worked alongside, and supported large NHS staff teams, education and care staff experiencing acute crises, trauma and burn out. I am passionate about integrating the science of psychology with embodied practices and the ancient wisdom of yoga. I am interested in working collaboratively with individuals and communities to co-create more tailored care, and in socially just ways. My approach is gentle, inviting awareness of the body and our moment-to-moment experiences, exploring movement to find release, freedom and joy for all bodies, ways to connect people to the wisdom, experiences and resources that exists in our bodies, breath and the natural world, to be more accessible to us all. In the stress of our day-to-day lives, and in systems that can challenge, cultivating space for rest, care and connection is vital towards collective healing and re-imagined ways of being.”

Chantell’s work is also informed by mindfulness and compassion approaches, narrative therapy and systemic practice. Chantell founded Mindful Yoga Psychology in 2022.

Dr Jo Murray- Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist

“I weave together the ancient philosophy of yoga and the science of psychology to create a safe space, away from the chaos of life, where you can tune into your own unique voice. I specialise in offering support to NHS staff who have experienced trauma or burnout, and those who live with emotional health challenges, physical health challenges, or fatigue. I have a wealth of experience working alongside children and adults where their health challenges have not been well understood by the western medical system. My practice is collaborative; I will bring some ideas and also listen carefully to what you and your body need. I lean towards gentle yoga practices, where your experience within your body is more important than being able to get into the poses. I am passionate about supporting you to find deep rest in your body, and life. I believe there is much healing and wisdom to be unearthed in these magical, restorative places.”

Jo’s work is also informed by narrative therapy, systemic practice and training in EMDR.
