Family Woodland Wellbeing Workshops

For children aged 4-11 years old and their parent(s) / caregiver(s)

Series of workshops during the school summer holidays:

Thursday 10th August 2-4pm

Thursday 17th August 2-4pm

Thursday 24th August 2-4pm

Thursday 31st August 2-4pm

Come along to one or all sessions, and de-stress in nature at the wonderful Meadow Orchard in North London.

The workshops are open to all children, and adapted to different developmental stages, those with neurodevelopmental difficulties and long-term physical health concerns.

Workshops will include:

  • Mindfulness movement and activities

  • Woodland and nature-based activities

    -including play, games, exploration and discovery, crafts and storytelling

    (adapted for different developmental stages and abilities)

  • Foraging to make tea.

WITH: Dr Chantell Douglas (Clinical Psychologist) and Jean Walker (Family Therapist).

Chantell and Jean are experienced therapists and keen gardeners interested in the therapeutic benefits of nature. The workshops invite gentle exploration, community and connection with nature to promote wellbeing for children and families, and in a way that also protects and does not interfere with the plants, garden, permaculture and eco-system of the Meadow Orchard.

Jean Walker- Family Therapist & Therapeutic Gardener

“I have worked in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for 22 years as an experienced family therapist. I am passionate about the benefits of being in nature for mental and physical health and wellbeing. In addition to working with families, I am currently employed in an NHS hospital garden supporting children, young people and adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns.”
